After qualifying on pole position on Friday, Sydneysider Reece Cohen has continued his strong from qualifying at the opening round of the 2024 SP Tools Australian Kart Championship in Adelaide on Saturday.

The TopGun Racing Team driver claimed victory in the opening heats for the KZ2 category before crossing the line second in the third to be the leading contender entering Sunday’s action.

Former Champion Josh Fife was victorious in the third heat on Saturday while Henry Johnstone was solid to be third in the points standings.

Local driver Oceane Colangelo became the first female winner of a KA2 heat in the Australian Kart Championship when she crossed the line first in Heat Two.  In a day of attrition for many in the elite junior field, Kobe McInerney emerged a top of the standings.

Likewise, drama struck in Cadet 12 with more than half of the field succumbing incidents throughout the day.  In the X30 Class, Brad Jenner finished the day with a clean sweep of the three heat races contested.
