Australia’s largest equipment hire company, Coates Hire, is supporting the Race for Jase charity karting enduro being held at the Ipswich Kart Track in Queensland today.

Coates Hire, recently announced as the naming rights sponsors of the Ipswich 300 (the upcoming event in the V8 Supercar Championship), will support the three-hour enduro along with an entry led by former Australian Champion Matt Greenbury and State Champion Ryan Sanderson.

With the event designed to raised funds for ill V8 Supercar driver Jason Richards, who is battling a rare form of cancer, Coates Hire will also be donating funds towards the cause.

While Greenbury and Sanderson have both been away from the top level of karting for the majority of 2011, they are both excited about pairing up for this afternoon’s race.

“I’m very excited to be competing in the Race for Jase and contribute to what I firmly believe is an amazing cause. Jason has touched every person in the V8 Supercar fraternity and we are all hoping to assist wherever possible in his recovery,” said Sanderson.

“With my work commitments at V8 Supercars Australia I don’t manage to get in a kart seat as often as I would like. When this opportunity arose during the week I jumped at the chance to get back behind the wheel and am looking forward to turning the wheel of a kart again.”

The pair will be joined on the grid this afternoon by a number of leading contenders in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series including Jack Perkins, Scott McLaughlin, Ash Walsh and Chaz Mostert, along with Porsche Carrera Cup front-runner Michael Patrizi and last round V8 Utes winner Chris Pither.

As the Ipswich region continues to recover from the impact of the January floods, Coates Hire remains very supportive of the areas still affected by the disaster.

“A lot of our customers and employees were affected and we had our branch go under during the floods so the company has a close emotional tie to the event,” said Coates Hire’s Group Manager of Strategic Marketing, Jeremy Hill.

As a part of the build up to next month’s Coates Hire Ipswich 300, to be held on August 19-21 at Queensland Raceway, the Coates Hire-backed Holden V8 Supercar, it’s driver Nick Percat and transporter will arrive in Ipswich early next month for meet and greets throughout the region.

Coates Hire is the official equipment hire sponsor of the V8 Supercars Championship.

Practice for this today’s event will begin at 1pm ahead of the Celebrity/Corporate Challenge at 4:30pm and the main Race for Jase from 5:30pm.

Admission for spectators will be via gold coin donation.

The Ipswich Kart Club is located on Champions Way, Willowbank (just outside of Ipswich).
