Australian Ricky Capo is set for a learning experience at the CIK-FIA World KZ Championship in France this weekend.

The Melbourne teenager will become the first Australian driver to compete with a factory team in the exclusive KZ category when he lines up with the Praga Kart Racing team.

Included on the 38-strong entry list alongside Capo is ex-Formula One driver Jaime Alguersuari along with former World Karting champions like Jonathan Thonon, Bas Lammers, Marco Ardigò, Davide Foré and Arnaud Kozlinski.

For Capo, it’s not the first time he has competed with a Factory Team.

“This is the first time I’ve raced in Europe within a team so I am very excited,” said Capo.

“We were fast in testing last week but maintaining our speed will be difficult. I’m racing against the best drivers in the world and even an ex-Formula 1 driver so I’ll have to be driving at the best of my ability at all times.

“The hardest thing will be to adjust to the grip levels. We’ll have to change the chassis and engine setup as well as my driving style accordingly.

“Every time I race in Europe I learn so much and it is good to be able to bring this experience back home to Australia.”

Capo will qualify this evening (Australian time) ahead of racing across Saturday and Sunday.

Live Timing, and Video Streaming of Sunday’s Final, can be found on the CIK-FIA Championships website (http://www.cikfiachampionship.com/)
