Message from AMSF Rookie Rising Star Joshua Smith

I am honored to once again be selected in the AMSF Rookie Rising Star program. To be included in the program for the second year is very encouraging for my future aspirations in Motor Sport.

It is a very humbling experience to be named among some of the former AMSF graduates and the current Rookie Rising Stars.

Last year was a great learning experience for myself. I joined a new and very professional team in Kosmic Racing Australia. We then travelled to the World Karting Championships where I competed in the KF3 Asia Pacific Championships, I finished a credible seventh. At this race meeting I had the chance to meet drivers like Max Verstappen, he himself is only 1 year older and on the path to Formula 1.

The AMSF has now given me the opportunity to race in Europe at the 2013 European KF Championships, a two round championship with the first round in Spain and the second round in Italy. My mentor and Kosmic Racing Australia team boss Peter Galvin has arranged a full factory backed drive with the Kosmic Racing Department. The team is a part of the hugely successful Tony Kart Racing team. I have no doubt at all that I will now have the best equipment to be able to compete against the very best drivers in the world.

I would like to thank Geoff Morgan AMSF Director, I haven’t met Geoff yet but it is because of his passion for Motor Sport and willingness to see young Australian drivers make it to Formula 1 that will allow myself and others fulfil our dream.

I am very lucky to have met Peter Galvin from Kosmic Racing Australia, who truly believes I have the talent to make it, also big thanks must go to AKA National President Craig Denton, the AMSF board, and of course my parents Barry and Elaine.

Regards
Joshua Smith
