PEDAL firmly pressed down, hands steady at the wheel, Andy Peever looked classy in his bright green number 3 kart.

Two and a half years into his karting life, Peever is still trying to learn about the sport, never having been involved in a motorsport before.

While much of the on-track skill is constantly improving with experience, Peever still relies on mates, who ushered him into the ground level seat, on his set-up.

“I don’t know much, one of the mates gives us a hand,” Peever said.

“A couple of them got into it, you do the hire karts and say you want to do it, but when your mates do it you actually get there.”

Peever has actually moved along to the point where he is travelling to experience new race tracks.

A trip to Rockhampton last weekend returned good results, and it was time to return to track once again in Gladstone for the Norton Rogers Memorial meet.

Results there are not paramount though, as long as one of the boys is behind at the chequered flags.

“It is bragging rights with your mates,” Peever said.

“It is great fun, it is good doing it legally. The adrenaline rush you get is awesome too.”
