Young gun Reece Davidson won the most prestigious event of his karting career with victory at the seventh annual Brian Farley Memorial event at Sydney’s Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway on Sunday.

Davidson, who only recently moved into the senior ranks, snared the win in his CRG kart ahead of Kosmic Racing Australia’s Matthew Waters and Cairns driver Lydon Dodge.

Queensland karting veteran, and V8 utes driver, Kris Walton was the pace-setter for the majority of the weekend, only to have his nose-cone come adrift during a final corner fracas which lead him to be disqualified from the main event.

Others to mix it near the front during the final included Liam Ferry, Jaie Robson, Aaron Borg and Jake Parsons before Davidson emerged as the victory in what has developed into Australia’s toughest Clubman race.

Joshua Smith led home a Kosmic one-two in the Sportsman 125 category with Matthew Boylan claiming second place. In a rare appearance on the track, Craig Stauner showed he’s still got what it takes to mix it near the front of the field with a third placing.

Local driver Jayden Ojeda proved too good in the Junior National category that featured an impressive field of 29 drivers. Cody Brewcynski recovered from a pair of non-finishes in the opening two heats in the Rookies category to take the overall honours ahead of Harrison Hoey.

Benito Montalbano was undefeated all throughout the weekend in the Cadets category to cross the line ahead of Jonathon Cassar in the final as Jai Brown charged his way from the back of the pack to finish third.

In Senior National it was Matthew Pritchard who took the win while Matthew Mills and Simon Kendrick was victorious in TaG Restricted Light and Heavy respectively.
