Warrnambool kart drivers sneak a peak at track - from the Warrnambool Standard

A GROUP of Warrnambool Kart Club members will get a sneak peek at the Portland track this weekend in preparation for round five of the Victorian Country Series.

The Portland track will host the penultimate round of the 2011 Victorian Country Series next weekend, with a group of Warrnambool competitors to contest the event.

Warrnambool Kart Club spokesman Neil Fitzgibbon said about eight juniors and a dozen senior drivers from Warrnambool were taking to the track this weekend.

“It’s a Portland club day but it’s also a combined club day,” he said.

“The following weekend is the Victorian Country Series round five, so this is a good opportunity for the young ones to have a practice before that.”

This weekend’s club day is open to drivers from surrounding clubs, such as Warrnambool, Hamilton and Mount Gambier.

The final round of the Victorian Country Series will be hosted at Hamilton on November 6.

Meanwhile, Warrnambool Kart Club is holding a come-and-try day on the last two weekends of November at Lake Gillear. Dates and times are yet to be finalised.
