KEL Treseder has fought back from a terrible Friday practice session to finish just short of the podium in the final round of the CIK Stars of Karting at Port Melbourne at the weekend.
While Treseder had struggled in the initial practice session and was in 23rd position going into the qualifying rounds on Saturday, he started the final in eighth position and finished the round in sixth.

The crew had a late night Friday making changes to the machine and Treseder said there were not many parameters on the kart that were not changed.

“After practice we pretty much turned the kart upside down. We changed axles, seat position, tyre camber, three engines and anything else to make it go faster,” he said.

“Considering where we came from early on, it was the best we could do.”

The season finished on Sunday for Treseder’s class, Pro-Gearbox, and he said he would enjoy the break – but there might be one race to tempt him in the off-season.

“There is a race in Kalgoorlie which has a $10,000 win prize so I might head over for that,” he said.
