KEL Treseder will be back on track this week in his return to the CIK Stars of Karting series at Eastern Creek Raceway.

Treseder has been plying his trade in regional events this year and is looking forward to mixing it with the best in the sport.

The kart was tested last week and Treseder said everything is ready.

“It’s a brand new chassis and engine we are running, so it all needed to be checked,” Treseder said.

“The kart is certainly good enough and now I’m looking forward to the race.”

Treseder has not raced at this level since October last year and has been working to have his body ready to stand up to the stresses of driving at such high speeds.

“I have been training for three months to be ready for this weekend,” he said.

“But you can be as fit as you want and driving 25 laps will still be much more challenging than running five kilometres.”

The Pro Gearbox class which Treseder will be racing in is very competitive, where any of the top 10 drivers would not be outclassed on an international stage.

Qualifying starts Saturday with a 10-minute session to shake out the field, and then there are three races of 15 laps.

Sunday will see the drivers and machines pushed with two races of 25 laps to decide who tops the podium.

Missing the first three rounds of the season will guarantee that Treseder does not place as well as previous years but he still has his sights on a successful return.

“I know this late start means I won’t place in the championship this year,” Treseder said.

“But if I can get on the podium a few times I will be happy.”

Treseder is using the remainder of the year to gear up for the 2013 season.

“The rest of this year I’ll be using it as progressive testing,” he said.

“Next season we will do the full year and my hopes are high.”
