Message from the Tiger Kart Club Committee
The Tiger Kart Club committee in Western Australia has been working hard behind the scenes for over six months to secure some fantastic industry support with the hope this will become one of WA’s biggest and best race meetings.
Following on from the clubs successful hosting of the 2011 Nationals we decided we wanted to offer karters something different to a typical open meeting. Our plan was to address some of the issues that karters have been concerned about, mainly, too many classes, not enough racing laps and in some cases standing around for up to 4 hours between race rounds.
We feel that with a careful selection limited to 12 classes and a well run and planned race meeting we can achieve what the karters want while at the same time offering as many karters as possible the chance to compete for some fantastic trophies and prizes.
With this new format we can now offer each of the 12 classes over 40km of racing during the weekend with a Nationals level 16km final to boot..
The club is lucky to have what is one of Australia’s best kart tracks to hold the event on but again for this meeting we decided to run the track in reverse direction to really spice up the action. Cockburn “down the hill” as it is often referred to when run this way has all the unique open high speed sweepers the track is famous for but now also one of the fastest main straights in the county.
The club has also invested thousands of dollars on some very impressive trophies paying right back to 5th place to give as many drivers as possible the chance to make the podium.
Those drivers who don’t get into the top 5 needn’t worry because on top of the trophies we also have some awesome prizes to give away via random draw, all you have to do is be at the presentations to get the prizes. We have over $15,000 worth of cash and prizes to give away including a brand new kart, 3 new engines and heaps of tyres and other cool stuff.
The feature event on the program is the open class. WA is one of the last places in Australia running this class where basically anything with an engine is able to compete and with such a strong KZ-2 field running in WA now + the many 200 Supers and the new 250 Super of Wayne Bell (twin X-30’s) we are expecting more than 20 of these awesome machines to greet the starter. The guys are racing for $3000 cash and getting to see these karts going down the straight at + 130kmh should be a real sight.
To top things off and present a professional event the club is printing a full race program, a full time commentator on both days and things like a face painter on Sunday for the kids.
Entries are now open on the CM:S system and close on the 20th of April (a week early so we can list all the drivers and sponsors in the program) so we encourage everyone to get there entries in early so they don’t miss out on what we hope will be fantastic weekend of racing.
