THE TITLES FOR THE YOUNG AT HEART

While kart racing is commonly referred to as a young persons sport, it is actually a sport that can be, and is, enjoyed by people of all ages.

Highlighting this fact is the 17th Annual Coffs Harbour East Coast Over 40s Titles to be held in the Central New South Wales coastal town of Coffs Harbour next month (June 10-12).

Over the years this event has grown into one of the largest events in New South Wales with competitors, all over 40 years of age, travelling from all parts of the country to compete.

“The Over 40s Titles has grown into a must attend event for the older generation of our sport,” said event co-ordinator John Martin.

“The event caters for almost every rulebook class and the only restriction is that the drivers are over 40 years of age and hold a minimum of a C Grade licence.

“While it is one of those events that we see people return to every year because they enjoy it so much, it is also one that we continually get more newcomers to each year which is very pleasing.  Already this year many of the entries we’ve received are people who are coming to the event for the first time.”

Martin says that while the racing is important at an event like the Over 40s Titles, it’s the off track experiences which make it just as enjoyable.

“These days we’ve all seen that karting is a serious sport at the top level and some almost call it a business but we try and make this event as fun as possible,” said Martin.

“While the racing is competitive we find that everyone is here for a good time.   Win or lose they’re all catching up on old stories, talking about how fast they were when they were younger or just enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and hospitality offered by the Coffs Harbour community.”

In addition to the regular classes offered at this event, for the first time ever, the Rotax DD2 (180kg) karts will be competing under the Open Performance banner.

Entries for the event close this Friday (May 20) with the Supplementary Regulations available by clicking here.
