STATEMENT: MATTHEW HAYES

It is with sadness that the Australian Karting Association acknowledges the tragic passing of Victorian kart racer Matthew Hayes.

Hayes passed away suddenly on December 29.

Hayes was well known as one of Australia’s top kart racers winning six Victorian titles, along with three wins in the prestigious City of Melbourne titles. He also played a pivotal role in developing the skills of many up and coming karters through his words of advice.

A Funeral Service to celebrate his life will be offered at St Paul’s Catholic Church, 562 Sydney Rd, Coburg, on Tuesday 8th January 2013, at 12noon.

Hayes will be sorely missed by the Australian karting community.
