SATURDAY NOTEBOOK FROM THE QUEENSLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

Bid4Jase livery
The Pacific Kartsport team is this weekend running a special livery at this weekend’s Queensland State Championships in Warwick for the bid4Jase cause and the upcoming Race for Jase Enduro at Ipswich.  The Dale Verrall-led team has committed to running four karts in the event – including one for Kiwi rising stars Scott McLaughlin and Chris Pither.

New colours for Plumb
For the first time Brock Plumb has been seen at the Queensland Championships in a full Arrow liveried kart.  After running an Arrow kart in the Junior National Heavy category at the Nationals and finishing second, the Queenslander has taken advantage of the Arrow Rewards program to suit up aboard an Arrow kart in Junior Clubman this weekend.

Flying Visit
Clubman Super Heavy front-runner Bradley Moody has been a jetsetter over the few weeks.  The CRG driver travelled from Malaysia, where he is currently posted in a engineering role, to compete in the Shakedown event at Warwick before jetting back to Malaysia.  He then returned to Australia earlier this weekend to prepare for this weekend’s championships.

Long time between drinks for Grother
Gladstone’s John Grother is on the hunt this weekend at the Queensland State Championships in the Leopard Light category.  The karting veteran hasn’t won a trophy in 2011 – his last time on the podium was at the South Australian State Championships last November.

The Falcon swoops in
Seen in the pit area this weekend is ‘The Falcon’ Barclay Holden.  The 2003 Pro Light (KF1) (previously known as Formula A) champion in the CIK Stars of Karting Series swooped into the Sandy Creek Raceway this weekend and is lending a hand to the defending champion in the Junior National Light category, Lachlan McHugh.
