HISTORY TO BE MADE AT NUMURKAH WHEN COMBATANTS TAKE TO STARTING LINE TOMORROW NIGHT

Goulburn Valley Kart Club will race under lights for the first time in its 50-year history tomorrow night.

The club will host a race meet at Numurkah Kart Club, 4 km out of Numurkah on Katamatite Rd with current Australasian Junior Rotax Kart champion Isabella Thomas set to hit the track.

Thomas has spent hours on theNumurkah track as a GVKart Club member, but her father and event organiser Ben said that wouldn’t be an advantage tomorrow night.

‘‘No-one will have an easy night; it will be tough for all of them because no-one’s ever run under lights there and it changes the track,’’ Ben said.

‘‘It’s a brand new track to everyone and home-track experience won’t play a part in it.’’

The race meet will begin at about 2 pm with practice taking place from 9 am.

The heats are predicted to wrap up at about 5.30 pm followed by a tea break which will lead into pre-finals and finals at about 6.30 pm.

Ben said the competition would be another hurdle for the local speedster with Melbourne’s Matty Smith and Finley’s Hagen Skinner in form.
