Kiwi international Josh Hart was one of the stars of Australia’s annual Rotax Nationals kart meeting at Geelong in Victoria over the weekend, winning a heat and ending up third overall in the premier Rotax Max Light class.

Hart, who is originally from Palmerston North but has spent the past four years living and racing in Europe, spent the weekend battling with class pace-setter David Sera and eventual runner-up Daniel Rochford, beating the latter to the line for second place in the Pre-Final, but ending up third – behind Sera and Rochford – in the Final.

The other Kiwi at the meeting, Auckland’s Aarron Cunningham, did not fare as well, struggling with engine issues all weekend and pulling out of the Rotax Max Heavy class Final after being hit from behind as he tried to work his way forward from the back of the grid.
