KEY OUTCOMES FROM NATIONAL KARTING COUNCIL MEETING

The National Karting Council (NKC) of the Australian Karting Association (AKA) met in Adelaide at the weekend.

The meeting followed a Special General Meeting held on Saturday morning where the NKC voted to implement a new management model for the sport (click here to read more).

While the full minutes from the meeting will be distributed in due course, a number of the key outcomes from the weekend’s meeting include:

The tender documents for the future engine in the Cadet/Rookie and National/Clubman categories are almost finalised and will be distributed in the coming days
The NKC confirmed its position that there will be no classes added into the Association in the near future, regardless of how many events that would be proposed for that category, particularly considering the pending implementation of a future engine for the Cadet/Rookie and National/Clubman categories
The NKC ratified the implementation of the Junior Max Trophy class to compete on the Mojo D1 tyre
The socorem inlet silencer will be the only inlet silencer permissible for use on the IAME X30 engine from January 1, 2013
The Newcastle Kart Racing Club will host the 2014 National Sprint Kart Championships
There will be a price increase to the AKA 39 exhaust muffler manufactured by Powermac, to a Recommended Retail Price of $158.00 effective September 17, 2012
Costing of a promotional dvd/campaign designed to provide an overview of the benefits of the sport and complement the previous How to Go Karting DVD that has been produced
Discussion was held on the 2012 National Championships and how the event can be further improved for future events
