NOTEBOOK FROM THE NSW STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

New Chassis for Fothergill
Reigning National Champion Cian Fothergill had a less than ideal start to his Clubman Light campaign in the NSW State Championships at Newcastle on Wednesday.

The Gladstone driver slid wide exiting the out grid in his first practice session and collected the concrete wall causing severe damage to his Monaco chassis.  Luckily another chassis was able to be shipped up overnight and after being assembled within an hour, Fothergill was back on track in the new chassis on Thursday morning.

Elle’s not so well
Tracksa Racing’s Elle Brydon isn’t so well.  The Fast Femme completed the first two practice sessions for the New South Wales State Championships before being shipped off to hospital with appendicitis on Wednesday.

She underwent an operation on Thursday before being released on Saturday to be trackside in support of her Tracksa Racing team-mates.  Elle will be pulling out all stops to be back on track in two weeks time at the CIK Stars of Karting Series Finale.

Where’s my pink slip sir?
In a rare occurrence, a Steward was asked by a driver on the weekend “Can I have my pink slip please?” Yes, you read correctly, after failing to mount his transponder in a qualifying session Matthew Waters was heard asking this exact question.

Ten for Arrow
Yes, that’s correct ten of the 15 victories at the New South Wales Championships were won by driver’s using the Australian-made Arrow chassis.  Top Kart and CRG secured two victories a piece while Tyler Greenbury’s Rotax Light victory was Intrepid’s sole win.

Victorian’s take it to the locals
It could have been Sunday’s weather at the New South Wales Championships that made them feel right at home as six victories headed back South across the border.  Drivers from the home state also secured six titles while Queenslanders won three categories.
