NEWS AND INFORMATION REGARDING THE 2011 CIK STARS OF KARTING SERIES

Organisers of the CIK Stars of Karting Series met recently to further discuss the plans for the 2011 championship.

During the discussions several key outcomes were achieving with the most significant being a conclusive plan for the engine configuration in the Pro Light (KF1) category, the tyre compounds to be used in the 2011 series, series registration by competitors and a code of conduct that all competitors will be expected to adhere to.

Pro Light (KF1) engines
In order to maintain a level playing field at an economic level organisers of the CIK Stars of Karting Series will be maintaining the IAME Parilla KF (Australian) specification engine until at least the end of the 2012 series. This time period runs concurrent with the latest homologation period of the engine.

The reference to the ‘Australian’ specification means that the engine will be the current bottom end, of which there is still supply from IAME, fitted with the upgraded barrel, head and piston – as previously advised during 2010.

The continuation of using this engine ensures continuity and parity for all competitors.

The engine, and cylinder head upgrade, will be available for purchase through Remo Racing in the coming weeks. Please contact Remo or one of his staff on 03 5382 0241 to place your order.

Should you have a technical question regarding the technical regulations for the engine please contact Richard Erdmann on 0418 444 068.

2011 Series Registration
All competitors are required to be registered for the 2011 CIK Stars of Karting Series prior to competing in a event.

The registrations are all available online at www.starsofkarting.com.au

Series registrations enable organisers to communicate to all competitors and supporters in a timely manner.

Tyre compounds for 2011
Next year (2011) will see a new homologation of Dunlop tyres produced by the factory which means the CIK Stars of Karting Series will be using the newly homologated tyres – DES, DEM and DEH .

The chosen compounds for each of the three categories is still be finalised. Testing by Dunlop Kartsport will be conducted over the coming months in Australian conditions before a final decision is made on the compound to be used by each category.

Code of Conduct
In order to continually raise the profile and professionalism of the CIK Stars of Karting Series a Code of Conduct for all drivers will be implemented during 2011.

The Code of Conduct covers a variety of aspects for all competitors including the presentation of karts and teams along with the conduct of all drivers and team members during events.

All registered drivers will be provided with a copy of the Code of Conduct over the coming weeks.
