National Volunteer Week (NVW) is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteers. From Monday 17th to Sunday 23rd May 2021, NVW will celebrate the significant contribution of Australia’s almost six million volunteers. Each year these volunteers dedicate over 600 million hours to help others.

Today, Karting Australia would like to thank Michael Parsons who first became involved at the Newcastle Kart Racing Club back in 1985 after heading down for a look before becoming hooked.

“I have made some great and lifelong friends from all over Australia thanks to karting who I enjoy catching up with when I’m in town,” said Parsons.

“There have been so many moments over the years that have involved different aspects of the sport both as a racer and an official.

“I would like to thank all those people who have helped and guided me on my journey and who have taught me to become a better racer and official, my wife and kids for putting up with me and my passion and for all the weekends I have been away doing the sport we all love whilst seeing kids and parents with smiles on their faces having a crack weather winning or just doing their best.”

From everybody across Australia, thank you Michael for everything you do for karting. Without Officials like you who devote endless hours back into the sport we all love, none of us would have a place to go and race.

Across the rest of the week, Karting Australia will shine some light on some of the backbones of our sport, from the Canteen, to technical, Officials and grounds keepers to show we thank them, and everything they do!
