FAR North Coast kart racers who didn’t get enough action in the Young Guns titles at weekend can take part in a two-day historical karting display in Lismore this weekend.
The Vintage and Historic Karts Australia group is hosting the event and expects about attract 50 vintage karts from as far as Melbourne and Sydney to Lismore Showground.
“It’s a good time to have it the week after Young Guns,” VHKA club member Barry Fisher said.
“Interest is high at the moment and it’s a good chance for kids to look at the old karts and appreciate what they drive.”
It’s open to karting enthusiasts of all ages with vintage karts from the early 1950s on display and demonstrations and laps on the track.
“These karts are powered by the Victa and Villier lawn mower motors, McCulloch, reed and rotary engines,” Fisher said.
“The owners are more than happy to answer any questions people might have about the machines.”
Fisher hopes it becomes an annual event with other popular displays held at places like Lithgow for the NSW-based organisation.
Entry is free and via the Dunoon Rd gate.
Meanwhile, final results have been compiled from last weekend’s Young Guns Titles.
More than 180 racers from across the country took part in the Lismore Showground event.
Scores of prizes were handed out to those involved, with organisers hailing the event as a great success.
Final winners: Cadet P: Charlie Ploetz; Cadet: Nathan Herne; Rookies P: Daniel Murrell; Junior National Light: William Brown; Junior National Midweight: Jayden Ojeda; Junior National Heavy: Jack Bussey; Junior Max: Nicholas Andrews.
