At its meeting on 7 December 2011 in New Delhi (IND) and on proposals of the International Karting Commission Members, the FIA World Motor Sport Council took in particular the following decisions concerning Karting:
Calendar of the 2012 CIK-FIA Championships
The World Council has ratified the inclusion of the Monaco Kart Cup for KF3 and KZ2 on the 2012 calendar of the CIK-FIA Championships, Cups and Trophies. The event, which will again use part of the course used within the framework of the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix, will take place on 12, 13 and 14 October 2012.
The date of the third and last event of the CIK-FIA “U18” World Championship and Academy Trophy, already granted to Bahrain by the World Council in September, is set at 1st, 2nd and 3rd November 2012.
The 2012 CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship sees its format extended from three to four events, with in chronological order: Hockenheim (DEU, 20-22 April 2012), Snetterton (GBR, 14-15 July 2012), Assen (NLD, 3-5 August 2012) and Le Mans (FRA, 28-30 September 2012).
Manufacturers’ Representatives
Further to a vote procedure conducted between the Manufacturers concerned, the World Council has ratified the appointment of the Manufacturers’ representatives within the CIK-FIA Working Groups, as follows: Birel, OTK Kart Group, Iame and Vega in the “Technical-Homologations-Manufacturers” Working Group; Bridgestone in the “Sporting Regulations-Calendar-Championships” Working Group.
Karting International Series
The following international Series have been approved: Rotax Euro Challenge (4 events), Rok Cup International Final (1 event), Winning Series Karting/WSK Masters Series (3 events), Winning Series Karting/WSK Euro Series (4 events) and German Superkart Series (6 events).
