Karting girl leads the pack - from the Southern Star

KURABY teenager Renee Gracie loves nothing better than clocking up high speeds on the race track.

Leaving the boys behind is a bonus but that’s not the reason Gracie loves the male-dominated sport of karting.

To her it’s about the thrill of the competition and when it comes to race day, she’s focused on winning no matter who is competing.

“It feels good to see their reaction once I’ve won,” Gracie said.

“But because I do race only boys I just see them as other racers so I just do my best.’‘

The 16-year-old discovered a taste for the sport while on holiday at Hamilton Island more than four years ago.
