Karters get set for hot contest at the Creek – From Blacktown Sun

The fifth annual Brian Farley Memorial event will thrill Sydney’s karting fraternity on February 11-12.

Eastern Creek will play host in honour of Farley, who worked tirelessly for karting before he died suddenly a few years ago.

The premier venue will attract not only NSW’s best but also many interstate drivers. Macauley Jones, son of former V8 Supercar driver and current team owner Brad Jones, holds the trophy.

Multiple Australian champion Troy Hunt won the inaugural event in 2008 before three-time national champion Jason Hryniuk took the honours the following year, followed by fellow Sydneysider Daniel Baker in 2010.

“There is no doubt the Brian Farley Memorial has developed into one of the country’s top events and one that attracts the best drivers,” said president Steve Parsons of the organiser, the North Shore Kart Club.

Almost 60 drivers contested the main event last year and a similar number is expected again.

There will be eight categories in addition to the main clubman event.
