AN unfortunate collision has robbed Townsville karter Josh Smith of the chance of a finals spot at the CIK- FIA European Championships in Spain. Smith, who drives for the Kosmic Racing, was was ranked 60th after the heats but was closing in on a time that would have earned him a spot in the 34- kart final – but a competitor ran into fellow Australian Joseph Mawson and caused him to spin right in front of the Townsville driver. ‘‘ I had nowhere to go and collided with him at high speed,” Smith said.
