IF THE state karting titles recently held in Gladstone got you excited, the Gladstone Karting Club has some good news for you.

President Dave Bennett said the Australian Karting Association of Queensland had lent them four shiny, competition quality karts so the club could hold a come-and-try day for Gladstone residents.

“We are hoping we will get a few roll up,” Bennett said.

Two of the karts are for the youngsters and the other two are for adults with a number of helmet sizes available.

Gladstone Kart Club members will be on hand to help people who would like to try the sport and Bennett said hopefully it would inspire more people to become members of the club.

Bennett said he believed there was a lot of interest in karting in Gladstone at the moment.

“A lot of people came to watch (the state titles) over Easter. If they all come back that would be great. We want to piggyback off the success of the state titles,” he said.
