Josh follows father on to kart racing scene

HIS dad Craig Denton was a national champion inkart racing, multiple state champion, raced overseas and is Australia’s delegate to the world governing body of the sport.

But now Cockatoo Valley 11-year-old Josh Denton is making his own way as a kart racer.

Recent form suggests the Year 6 student from St Brigids Primary School will be able to mix it with the nation’s best at the 2011 Alpha Industries South Australian Karting Championships at Monarto this weekend.

Qualifying will be held this morning and racing will start this afternoon, leading to the finals with championship trophies up for grabs on Sunday afternoon.

More than 250 karts racers are entered in 14 categories covering engine size, driver age (seven to 57) and weight.
