Jordon Boys had a weekend to remember at Geelong winning the Jason Richards Memorial Cup in two great days of racing.

ALBURY kart racer and Norske Skog Young Achiever award nominee Jordan Boys won the Rotax Pro Tour Jason Richards Memorial Cup at Geelong last weekend.

The Rotax Pro Tour honours the late Brad Jones Racing driver each year with the memorial meeting in recognition of Richards’s love and competition in the sport of karting, especially in the Rotax DD2 gearbox category.

Richards regularly competed in the Rotax pro tour before losing his battle with cancer in 2010.

Boys was a convincing winner, taking pole position in Saturday qualifying.

Strong results throughout the heat and final races on Saturday and Sunday and wins in both finals against tough opposition guaranteed him the win.

Boys is one of the only competitors to race in multiple classes in the pro tour and also secured second place in the fiercely competitive Rotax light class.

Contact within the field and a DNF in the heat races saw Boys start the final in 15th place. But great race pace clocking faster lap times than the winner on several occasions, secured him third place in Saturday’s final and fifth on Sunday, enough points to win second place overall.

These podium finishes will gain Boys sought-after rotax ranking points to help him qualify for the Australian team in the Rotax World International finals in Spain later in the year.

Other Albury-Wodonga Kart Club members to perform well were Danny Wright in DD2 Masters, Sam Dunlevy and Zac Phillips in DD2 and Jack Richardson and Matt McNeill in Rotax Light.
