MICK STOTT AWARDED LIFE MEMBERSHIP OF THE AKA

National President Simon Whiting awarding Mick Stott his Life Membership of the Association today.

South Australian Mick Stott has been awarded Life Membership of the Australian Karting Association during the Annual General Meeting held at Cairns, Queensland today.

Mick, who has been the National Track Safety Coordinator for the past 12 years, first became involved in the sport of karting during 1971. Since that time he has been a competitor and official on a number of levels in both the AKA (SA) and AKA Nationally.

Mick’s expertise has continually assisted with the improvement of safety on AKA tracks across the country.

“The sport of karting has been great to myself and my family, I firmly believe that I have always tried to put back into it what I have got out of it. In saying that though, I’m genuinely surprised, and honoured, by this award,” said Mick, who stood down from his long-term position at today’s AGM.

“I’ve been very passionate about track safety and wanting every one of our competitors to go home in one piece.

“During my time in the sport I’ve met a lot of great people across the country and look forward to continually being involved in karting on various levels, mainly through my family, for many years to come.”

During the AGM Simon Whiting was reappointed as the National President, David Murray as National Vice-President, Pam Arnett as National Secretary and Craig Denton as National Executive Member. Peter O’Neill will replace Max Laybutt in the role of National Treasurer.
