Competitors from various parts of the country will make the trek to the Central New South Wales town of Griffith later this week to compete in the next event on the Rotax Pro Tour schedule this weekend.

A total of 107 entries across the six Rotax categories have been received for the Tour’s inaugural visit to the Griffith venue with the highly competitive Junior Rotax and Rotax Light classes both attracting 29 entries.

It is in these two categories where Victorian Thomas Randle and Pierce Lehane, who recently returned from competing at an event in Europe, will look to hold onto their respective leads in the Rotax Rankings.

Randle will face tough opposition in the fight for victory in Junior Rotax from the likes of Joseph Burton-Harris, who like Lehane competed in Germany last month, the improving Sydneysider Andrew Kahl and Victorian Liam McLellan just to name a few.

Melbourne’s Daniel Rochford has been the star of the Rotax Light field of late winning the most recent Pro Tour event in Albury to propel himself into fourth place in the Tour standings, which are led by Lehane. The pair is expected to be challenged across the weekend by drivers to the calibre of Joseph Mawson, James Macken and Tyler Greenbury who after winning in Gympie missed the Albury event.

A total of 25 entries have been received for the Rotax Heavy category including the likes of National Champion Troy Woolston, Rick Pringle, William Yarwood and Adam Hunter appearing as some of the favourites.

Practice will begin on Friday ahead of qualifying and heat races on Saturday with the pre-final and finals to be contested on Sunday.
