TOOWOOMBA driver Tyler Greenbury has taken a home state victory in the final round of the Rotax Pro Tour karting series at Warwick’s Sandy Creek Raceway at the weekend.

Greenbury and Daniel Rochford had a close battle in the Rotax Light class, both matching times over the course of the event.

But Greenbury has had a great run of success aboard his new CRG kart and showed the superior speed to edge out Rochford by 0.25 seconds in the final.

Meanwhile, Aaron Rintoul ended Troy Woolston’s perfect run in the Rotax Heavy class after snatching the lead with three laps remaining.

Toowoomba’s Matthew Greenbury made his return to the driver’s seat in fine style by claiming third.

Former Darling Downs driver Brendan Nelson finished fourth while Warwick’s Brett Sinkins rounded out the top 10.

And 16-year-old Toowoomba racer Matt Jones fell just short of his goal of a top 10 finish in the Junior Max division after placing 11th in the final.

Jones faced a huge task in the biggest grid of the weekend with series leader Thomas Randle crossing the line first ahead of Andrew Kahl and Joseph Burton-Harris.
