Queensland Intrepid Kart Team driver Tyler Greenbury was in dominant form at the Rotax Pro Tour being held at Warwick in South East Queensland today and tomorrow.

Racing in both Rotax Light and the spectacular DD2 gearbox class, Greenbury took 4 heat wins from 6 heats across both classes to line up on pole position for Sunday morning’s prefinals. Greenbury did not have an easy time in the DD2 class as Damien Ward fought to make up for his disappointment of finishing 2nd at the last Pro Tour event at Port Macquarie. Ward shared the other heat wins aboard his Pacific Kartsport prepared Kosmic while Brinley Gread who leads the rankings points for the class, was also on the pace in his Pro Tour race debut for Sodi Kart.

A capacity field of 30 karts kept the crowd glued to the fence as Greenbury fought with fastest qualifier Luke Rochford, Chris Hays, Josh De Maio, Macauley Jones, James Macken and Luke Lane in all 3 heats. It was Greenbury however who won the final heat to qualify on pole for the prefinal.

Queenslander William Yarwood won 2 of today’s three heats in Rotax Heavy to qualify on pole for the prefinal on the same track where he claimed his 40th state championship just a few weeks ago. Joseph Mawson was the class of the junior field while his main rival, Pierce Lehane suffered from rare mechanical issues and accidents and will have his work cut out to stop Mawson who has incredibly won all 3 Pro Tour events in 2011. Cameron Harch will start the O’35’s class from pole as will Canberra’s Bruce Otter in the Super Heavy category and Michael Saller in Junior Max Heavy.

The Warwick Kart Club have done a superb job to present their 993 metre Sandy Creek Raceway for the Pro Tour this weekend. The prefinals will start at 9am with the 22 lap finals to follow.
