Golden races at Rochester – From the Campaspe News

Rochester Motorsport Complex will host the third round of the Golden Power Series karting championships on the weekend.

Rochester Kart Club member Mark Dunstan said other members were looking promising in the series.

Thomas Hughes will compete in the junior national light competition and Stefan Moore and Christopher Dunstan in the sportsman restricted light.

Mark Dunstan will compete in the sportsman restricted over 40s.

Dunstan said Moore competed in the Victorian Carting Series and placed in the top five for the entire series.

Moore was excited about competing on the weekend and always enjoyed racing at the home ground.

Hughes has been competing in several events and will go on to the Queensland titles next week.

‘‘He is currently sitting in second place in the Golden Power Series,’’ Dunstan said.

Echuca’s Hayden Dodman placed in the top section of the national series in the Northern Territory last year.

Dunstan said the series received 180 entries so far and expects the amount of karts at the Rochester Motorsport Complex to exceed 200 at the weekend.

The prizes for the series are about $70,000, with winners receiving engines and other kartinggoods.

He expected more than 1000 spectators to attend the free event, which is open to all.

The round is at the Rochester Motorsport Complex, Quarry Rd, Rochester, on Saturday and Sunday from 10am.

The club meets on the last Sunday of the month, from February to November, and new members are welcome.
