GET down low and go, go, go will be the technique go kart drivers will be following this weekend when they take part in a race day at the Whitsunday Raceway and Driver Education Training Facility on Sunday.
A practice day will be held on Saturday from 12pm, with all the action getting underway on Sunday from 10am.
Go kart drivers of all ages are welcome to show off their skills in different classes, with food and drinks available at the site. Event co-ordinator Natalie Lock said she was expecting drivers from as far as Bowen, Townsville, Ingham, Mackay and Walkerston to go and compete.
“It’s a good family sport,” she said.
“My husband likes it because it keeps the family together.”
A come and try day will be held on Saturday, June 16 between 10am-3pm for those keen to try their luck at the sport.
Karts will be available for hire for the day, with those interested in having a go urged to book a seat by June 13.
Drivers must be seven years and over to take part, with plenty of room at the track for spectators.
Covered-in shoes and long sleeve shirts and pants is the ideal clothing drivers should wear on the day.
