Gladstone karters are champions - from the Gladstone Observer

THE future of Gladstone go karting is bright.

Local drivers took the top spots on the podium at the QGC Queensland Closed Sprint Kart Championships at the weekend.

Gladstone Karting Association president Dave Bennett said a good weekend was topped off with a few wins from some of Gladstone’s best drivers.

“We had a couple of local champions,” he said.

“All the racing was really good. Jason Faint from Rock Salt won a title.

“We had some great performances.”

Five-time Moto GP world champion Mick Doohan’s son Jack placed ninth in the Midgets section.

Bennett said the club was thrilled to have secured the Queensland Open championships over the Easter long weekend next year.

“We had very good feedback from the Australian Karting Association Queensland body,” he said.

“We also had an email from the head technical scrutineer, which was good.

“The event ran smoothly and we had positive feedback from the competitors.”
