Fullwood family celebrates go-kart success in west

DARWIN’S Fullwood family is celebrating after a weekend of good results at the WA State Titles in Albany.

Bryce Fullwood won the highly competitive junior national light class against 25 of the west’s best karters.

He recorded all-the-way wins in three races, winning the pre-final and final by more than four seconds and without an opposition driver in sight.

Fullwood’s teamwork with Top Ender Brodie Green, a past rookie WA state champ-ion, ensured the Territory finished on the podium.

After a promising start in the heats Green spun out in the rain, relegating him to 12th on the grid in the final.

But he showed his skills in slippery conditions to claw his way back to second. He was passed on the final lap for a third-place finish.

Rookie driver Tom Maxwell showed the Sandgropers he will be a force to be reckoned with in the future by recording some good speed in the wet conditions.

After a bad start in the final, Maxwell stormed home from 18th position to grab ninth overall.

Midget driver Kasey Fullwood competed in her first interstate competition after a successful NT titles in July. She showed that girls can drive fast, have fun and still finish on the podium.
