Fujitsu launch an exciting driver development program

The Fujitsu ‘Cool’ driver program will commence in 2011

Fujitsu General (Aust.) Pty Limited today launched the most exciting young driver development program ever seen in Australia with the announcement of the Fujitsu ‘Cool’ Driver Program.

The ‘Cool’ driver program will commence in 2011 when Fujitsu will expand on its already comprehensive motorsport sponsorship presence with a staircase progression path covering Karting and Formula Ford.

Young drivers will apply for inclusion in the program during January, with the successful candidates receiving lucrative ‘Cool’ Driver contracts to assist with their career development plans.  In addition to a bonus payment scheme for winning results in major races and titles the best performing Karter receives an opportunity to test with a National Formula Ford team, while the Formula Ford drivers will be competing for a V8 Supercar test with the Fujitsu sponsored Garry Rogers Motorsport operation.

Seven (7) Karters will be selected; one from each State of Australia, while there will be four (4) ‘Cool’ Driver spots up for grabs for drivers contesting the Australian Formula Ford Championship.  The Karters will need to be aged from 12 years upwards and the Formula Ford aspirants from 14.

Hot on the heels of Fujitsu’s first V8 Supercar win at Homebush recently, Fujitsu General’s Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Philip Perham, sees the program as the perfect mechanism to compliment and expand the company’s current motorsport involvement.

“We’re delighted with what we’re achieving with Lee Holdsworth and Michael Caruso at GRM and young Scott McLaughlin has been very impressive with his rate of improvement in his first V8 Supercar year with Stone Brothers Racing.”

“We embarked on a youth development program at the start of this year and we’re now looking at the next bunch of young superstars hoping to carve out a career in professional motorsport.  The Fujitsu ‘Cool’ Driver Program is the perfect vehicle to evaluate the next crop of youngsters and I’m sure it will be well received from competitors, categories, the media and fans.”

“A cool concept for cool young drivers”
