IT WAS a banker against a conveyancer in the heavy class at the final round of the Rotax Pro Series at Sandy Creek Raceway yesterday.
After banker Troy Woolston won the previous five rounds this season, conveyancer Aaron Rintoul won the final round yesterday.
There was only one kart length between the two.
The two Melbourne drivers are in contention for a trip to Portugal for the winner of the series.
The national championships in Dubbo on September 1-2 count towards the series and Rintoul reckons he needs a victory to give him a chance to overtake his friend and close rival.
Both praised the quality of facilities in Warwick.
“It is a flowing track and difficult to pass,” Rintoul said.
During the final race which Rintoul won, he overtook Woolston on an apex corner.
“I could have decided to keep my line but steered out and left a kart width between me and the other karts.
“The event was a good one and the town showed great hospitality,” Rintoul said.
Warwick driver Brett Sinkins was 10th in the same class. Overall 123 drivers competed.
