ENTRY LIST FOR 2012 ROTAX MAX CHALLENGE GRAND FINALS

The Australian team celebrating their win in the Nations Cup at last year's Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals

The entry list for the 2012 Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals to be held at the International Karting Circuit of Portimao (KIA), Portugal has been released.

A dozen Australians will be competing at the prestigious event that will see 276 drivers from 60 countries vying for victory.

The Australian team will consist of Brent Coghlan, Daniel Rochford, Hamish Leighton, James Golding, Jason Pringle, Jose Ruiz, Joseph Burton-Harris, Joseph Mawson, Kyle Ensbey, Pierce Lehane, Thomas Randle and Troy Woolston.

No less than 330 Rotax engines, plus some 300 chassis provided by Birel, MACH 1, Haase and Sodi, along with Praga for the National Rotax 125 Micro MAX race. There will also be 1,000 sets of tyres supplied across the event.

All of the 75 tonnes of equipment will be transported in 13 trucks with 3,500 hours of preparation work going into the event.

It is believed that the event will be attended by some 1,500 people (drivers and their families, mechanics, chassis staff, BRP-Powertrain staff, etc.), while 50,000 people are expected to follow the action on the internet (Twitter, Facebook, live timing, etc.)

The Australian Karting Association will be providing updates here on karting.net.au throughout the week of the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals.
