EMPOWERING WOMEN IN KARTING EVENT A HUGE SUCCESS IN IPSWICH

A special highlight of the 2025 event was the appearance of Romy Mayer from the PremiAir Nulon Racing Supercars team as guest speaker

For the second consecutive year, Ipswich Kart Club has successfully hosted its “Empowering Women in Karting” Come and Try Day, with 30 females – aged from just six years old through to 42 – taking to the track and experiencing the thrill of karting in a supportive, female-only environment.

The event, proudly supported by a Karting Australia Club Development Grant, highlights Ipswich Kart Club’s commitment to the ‘Girls Race Too’ program designed to growing female participation and creating pathways for women in the sport. The Development Grant provided valuable resources to ensure the program continues to expand and inspire more women to get involved in karting at every level.

The day was led by Ipswich Kart Club’s members, under the guidance of Ipswich’s Girls Race Too Ambassador Stephanie Duffy and Development Officer Russell Innes, who both played a key role in welcoming and mentoring participants.

A special highlight of the 2025 event was the appearance of Romy Mayer from the PremiAir Nulon Racing Supercars team as guest speaker. Romy shared her journey as a female in motorsport, offering valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities she has experienced. She also spent time trackside, interacting with the participants as they prepared for their on-track sessions.

Ipswich Kart Club Development Officer Russell Innes said the event’s growth is a positive reflection of the karting community’s commitment to inclusivity.

“It was fantastic to see so many new females at our club, and to watch the confidence of the participants grow throughout the day. Thanks to the support of our great band of members, including our Girls Race Too Ambassador Stephanie Duffy, and Karting Australia’s Club Development Grant, we’re delighted to be able to provide more opportunities like this to introduce more girls and women to our sport,” said Innes.

The Empowering Women in Karting event has now become a regular feature on the Ipswich Kart Club calendar and with the aim of continuing it into 2026 to attract further community interest and support.
