MORE than 280 drivers in 15 categories will hit Dromeside Raceway Wednesday for two days of practice before the 2013 Queensland Karting Championships roar into life Friday.

Drivers from the ages of seven to 50 will race inches from each other at speeds in excess of 110kmh around the 760m circuit and with perfect weather predicted the action will be intense.

Home-track advantage will be crucial for the Bundaberg drivers and there will be plenty of local chances to take out a state title.

From the junior ranks Jayden Gollan, Jeremy Landt and Troy Loeskow will be leading contenders while Kel Treseder will look to add to his impressive trophy case with another Queensland championship.

But they won’t have everything their own way with the Gold Coast’s Scott Simpson and Toowoomba’s Ben McKinlay just two of the visitors expected to be challenging for podium finishes.
