Ever fancied yourself as a Formula One driver, or think you’ve got what it takes to be a V8 Supercar star?

Or do you simply want to feel the need for speed in a safe and controlled environment?

Either way, kart racing is the sport that will help you get on the right track.

Kart racing is the place where all of the current motor racing champions started their careers, and thanks to the Toowoomba and Ipswich Kart Clubs, you can get on track to turn your dream into a reality later this month.

The Toowoomba Kart Club, located at the Greer Park Raceway on Snellings Road at Helidon, is giving people of all ages the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a real racing kart at the Club’s ‘Come and Try Day’ on Saturday January 21.

The Ipswich Kart Club, located on Champions Way at Willowbank, is giving youngsters aged between 7 and 16 years of age, the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a real racing kart at the Club’s ‘Come and Try Day’ on January 22.

“Kart racing is a real family sport and it can be enjoyed by people of all ages, people can start racing when they’re seven years of age right through to when they’re older than 70,” said Ipswich Kart Club President Ashley Waardenberg.

“This month’s ‘Come and Try Day’ has been designed to allow those under 16 to experience what karting is all about.

“One of the best things for the youngsters, both boys and girls, is that it teaches them about car control and driving techniques well before they are old enough to obtain their road licence.”
