The CRG Australia Racing Team had a sensational start to the opening day of the final round of the of the CIK Stars of Karting Series claiming pole in three out of the five series classes.

Heading into the final round of the series at the Newcastle Kart Club’s 1058 metre Mount Sugarloaf Raceway, three CRG drivers were also well poised leading the championship points with Kel Treseder, Pierce Lehane and Lydon Dodge all on top in their respective classes.

Racing in the Pro Gearbox KZ2 class, Treseder put in his best qualifying performance of the year topping the time sheets in the opening qualifying session before backing it up with a solid lap in the Top Five Shootout to retain pole for the heatraces.

Treseder’s strong run continued in the heats taking out the opening race before crossing the line in second and fourth in the remaining two races.

“My CRG was on rails in qualifying this morning, it feels great to take pole in qualifying but even more satisfying to back it up in the shootout,” said Treseder.

“I had a pretty solid run through the heats so we just need to keep that pace for the two finals and fingers crossed we can win the championship but it is going to be tough as there are some quality drivers right on my heals.”

CRG Pro Gearbox KZ2 teammate Jason Pringle is also well in contention for the championship and also had impressive speed and after carding eighth, fourth and third in the heats will be one to watch in the longer finals.

Pierce Lehane continued his domination of the Pro Junior KF3 class, like Treseder he too qualified fastest before retaining pole in the Shootout.

Three strong heat wins sees the Lehane well positioned with pole for the opening final, the CRG pilot giving himself the best possible chance to retain his Pro Junior KF3 title.

While Lydon Dodge entered the final round on top of the Yamaha Clubman Challenge, it was fellow CRG driver Brett Robinson who claimed pole.

Robinson continued his ways in the heats to secure pole for the pre-final while Dodge still has a little work to do coming from P6 however the CRG driver showed good pace throughout the heats.

Pro Light KF1 CRG driver Jason Hryniuk also had good speed, making the Top Five Shootout where he qualified fifth and after a strong run through the heats will be right in contention for the two finals.
