Time for qualifying in Wackersdorf.
The event of Wackersdorf (Germany) begins with the first qualifying sessions on the 1,222 metre long circuit in Bavaria, 150 kilometres from Munich. So, the first round of the CIK-FIA European Championship for the KZ and KZ2 categories has already moved into top gear. It is time for the first and longed-for challenges of the championship: the second and last round is scheduled for next 30thJuly on the Belgian circuit of Genk. After the two, whole days of free practice, the overall 140 entrants of the two categories are setting the first, official times.
Jorrit Pex is – again! – the fastest in KZ.

He won the European title last season and Jorrit Pex, the Dutch driver of CRG-TM, confirms to be one of the top drivers of the KZ category. He is definitely ready to achieve some more great goals, beginning with the pole position he grabbed in Wackersdorf today thanks to his 47”873. The battle is going to be thrilling, given that his fellow countryman, Max Verstappen (CRG-TM), is so close; only 115 milliseconds slower. Behind them, two big names such as Davide Forè (CRG-TM) and Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex), with a very narrow gap too – a little more than a tenth of a second from Pex. The KZ programme continues tomorrow with the qualifying heats.
Riccardo Negro clinches the pole in KZ2.

The first, big achievement of the weekend belongs to Riccardo Negro (DR-TM): the Italian driver, holder of a German licence, set his fastest time in 48”633. Behind him is Alessandro Manetti, second in 48”786 and followed by the Norwegian Emil Antonsen (DR-TM) and the Italian Marco Zanchetta (Maranello-TM). The hunt for the fastest lap is only the first appointment for the KZ2 drivers. Tomorrow they will be challenging each other in the qualifying heats. In the first heats of today the first victories was achieved by Zanchetta (2 races), Negro, the Italians Felice Tiene (CRG-Maxter) and Simone Brenna (TB Kart-Modena) and the Dutch Marijn Kremers (Birel-TM).
