Bray & Swetman hold their own in Las Vegas - from KartSport NZ

Kiwi kart racers Daniel Bray and Mark Swetman have held their own at the annual SKUSA SuperNationals meeting in the United States over the weekend, Bray finishing 10th in the premier S1 class, Swetman 12th in S4.

Aucklander Bray, the reigning CIK Trophy of New Zealand champion in the KZ2 class and KZ2 class winner at the 2010 Mi Sedaap Pro Kart series, qualified fourth before finishing fourth in the first heat, eighth in the second then failing to finish the third.

That gave him 11th place on the grid for the 25 lap winner-takes-all Final won by American veteran Alex Speed from favourite Fritz Leesmann, Dutch driver Indy Dontje and Jason Toft with Bray 10th.

Compatriot Swetman, F125S class title winner in the 2010 Mi Sedaap Pro Kart Series, topped his group in qualifying before failing to finish the first heat then bouncing back to cross the line in sixth place in the next two heats then finish the S4 Final in 12th place.

That race was won by Jimmy McNeil from fellow Americans Eddie Olpin, Rob Logan and Mike Jones.

The results at the big SKUSA SuperNationals meeting (one of the largest on the US calendar) complement those of fellow Kiwi kart racers Josh Hart (second in Senior Max), Matthew Hamilton (third in DD2) and Niki Urwin (21st in DD2 Masters) at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals meeting in Italy also held over the weekend.
