Australia will have 12 representatives at the 2012 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Final to be held at the International Karting Circuit of Portimao (KIA), Portugal on November 25 – December 1.

The event will see 276 drivers from 60 countries vying for victory competing in identical equipment (chassis, engines and tyres).Australia is the reigning champion in the Nations Cup having won the prestigious title at the 2011 event last November in Al Ain, UAE.

During the 2011 event, Australia had three drivers finish on the podium – all in the runner-up position.  Joseph Mawson finished second in the Junior Rotax category, David Sera in the Senior Rotax category and Jason Pringle in the DD2 category.

The Australian Karting Association’s website, www.karting.net.au, will be updated regularly throughout the week of the event on the progress of the Australian contingent.

The majority of Australia’s drivers will fly out late next week to begin preparations for the event.
