AUSSIES STRONG IN SUPERNATIONALS PRACTICE (inc. onboard video)

Australia’s contingent of drivers are looking strong following final practice at the 14th Annual SuperNationals in Las Vegas today.

With 491 drivers in attendance, including a record nine Australians, the event has attracted many of the best drivers from across the world including Marco Ardigo, Gary Carlton and Alex Speed.

After two days of practice around the 1062 metre temporary street circuit adjacent to the Rio Hotel and Casino it is David Sera and Joseph Mawson who are leading the way for the ‘Down Under’ drivers.

Sera, competing in both the TaG Senior and S1 (Pro Stock Moto), has posted times inside the top three all throughout the day in his IAME-powered Arrow kart and the top six in the gearbox entry.

Mawson, who is making his overseas debut, led the way for the junior drivers in TaG Junior with fellow Australian Adrian Lazzarro also inside the top ten. Western Australian youngster Scott Foster also posted some respectable times throughout the day.

In the elite KZ2 category CIK Stars of Karting Series Champion Matthew Wall and runner-up Kel Treseder posted times inside the top 15 throughout the day. Former World Champion Ardigo set the pace ahead of Beitske Visser with the top 20 drivers covered by four-tenths of a second.

Australia has three representatives in the TaG Masters category with Kip Foster among the pacesetters all throughout the day with Foster’s Kartforce team-mates Craig Willis and Eric Smith also posting times in the top half of the field.

Qualifying will be contested ahead of the opening heat race tomorrow.
