APPLICATIONS OPEN TO REPRESENT AUSTRALIA AT ASIA PACIFIC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Peter Bouzinelos and Aiva Anagnostiadis were a part of the Australia team at the inaugural Motorsport Games in 2022.

Karting Australia, in conjunction with Motorsport Australia, has opened expressions of interest for the upcoming inaugural Asia Pacific Championships

to be held in Malaysia later this year.

Representing Team Australia, competitors across several different categories will be selected to wear the famous ‘green and gold’ at the event to be held on 30 September – 1 October, 2023.

The event will see motorsport competitors from across the Asia Pacific region battle it out at the famous Sepang International Circuit against competitors representing their country.

Suitably licenced Karting Australia drivers have the opportunity to apply to represent Australia at the event in the Cadet, Junior Sprint and Senior Sprint karting categories using IAME Mini Swift, X30 Junior and X30 engines respectively.  Two drivers per category will be selected.

Drivers will be required to supply their own equipment, or make arrangements to lease equipment from a local supplier for the event.

Interested drivers are encouraged to complete the application form here https://kartingaustralia.wufoo.com/forms/qn19twt196mweb/

The drivers will line up alongside representatives chosen by Motorsport Australia in the Esports, Gymkhana and Rally regularity disciplines.

Motorsport Australia Director of Motorsport & Commercial Operations Michael Smith said the Asia Pacific Championships were a great opportunity for grassroots competitors to represent their country on the international stage.

“We’re pleased to see more international events being offered through the FIA for our grassroots competitors and those eager to showcase their skills against the best-of-the-best from our region,” said Smith.

“Any opportunity to compete at world class venue like Sepang International Circuit is also one that many competitors will be eager to experience.

“With the biennial FIA Motorsport Games not being held this year, this is also a great opportunity for competitors to put their hand up and showcase their skills for potential opportunities when those Games return in 2024 and we consider the make-up of Team Australia for that event next year.”
