Fothergill and Stein share the spoils in the IAME Challenge Final

Cairns driver Aidan Wright has continued his great run of form to secure victory in the Clubman Light category in the South Australian Karting Championships at the Monarto Karting Complex on the weekend.
Wright, who competed in this year’s CIK-FIA Under 18 World Karting Championship, led home James Sera and Warren White following a race long battle in the main event.
In the fastest Junior Max category, it was Melbourne driver Thomas Randle who broke through to claim his maiden State Championship ahead of Joseph Burton-Harris and local driver Luke Marquis.
Like many of the competitors, Randle is looking forward to competing in the National Championships at the South Australian venue in 2013.
“This is my maiden State Title and they say that you always remember your first one and this one will certainly stay will me for a long time,” said Randle.
“The Monarto is one that rewards consistency and I really enjoyed this place after coming second in last year’s event. Now I’m really looking forward to the Nationals being held here in 2013.”
For the second week in succession, Anton de Pasquale and Cooper Murray added a state championship to their ever growing resumes. De Pasquale took out the Junior National Heavy crown, while Murray proved too good in the Midgets category.
De Pasquale almost made it two victories for the event in the Junior Clubman category, only to be upstaged by local driver Todd Hazelwood.
Lee Mitchener made the most of his opportunities on the last lap in the Clubman Heavy ranks to snare the victory over Paul Pittam and Remo Luciani. It is the first State Championship in the Clubman ranks for the Victorian.

In the Leopard categories, that doubled as the IAME Challenge Final, it was Cian Fothergill who took the victory in the Light category over Wright while Daniel Stein who proved to be victorious in Leopard Heavy.
“It’s great to win not only the State Championship, but also the Leopard Final,” said Fothergill.
“It’s a great way to round out the year, one that I’ve had some great success in but none of this success would be possible without the support of MG Engines, Tracksa, Remo Racing, Kosmic Karts, Glenn Powles Designs, Eastern Creek Karts, Peter Galvin, Jammo and Kenny Bunyan.
“Monarto is a fantastic circuit and the Nationals here in 2013 will be ‘mad’, I can’t wait!”
Other victories went to Thomas Prascevic (Rookies), Bryce Fullwood (Junior National Light), Scott Simpson (Clubman Super Heavy), Macauley Jones (Rotax Light) and Kris Walton (Rotax Heavy).
