The CIK Stars of Karting Series presented by Castrol EDGE, will hit television screens across the country later this year with the final round of the 2011 series to be shown on SPEED TV Australia.

It will be the first time that Australia’s elite series has been televised across the country for many years, and the first time it will be broadcasted on the SPEED Channel.

The one-hour program will focus on the final round of the series, to be held at Sydney’s Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway on October 15/16, while also providing an insight into the sport of karting and the people involved.

Former Executive Producer of the V8 Supercar Championship, Murray Lomax, and the team at Castle Media, who currently produce the Australian Motocross Series, Australian Ironman Series and the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, will be producing the broadcast.

“Karting is something that I’ve always thought deserves to be a part of a high level production and I’m delighted to be able to share the action from the final round of the CIK Stars of Karting Series with viewers across the country,” said Lomax.

“I can assure everyone that this broadcast will not just be about the racing but will also go behind the scenes to inform the viewer about the sport of karting, the people involved and some of the technical aspects behind the sport.”

Australian Karting Association National President Simon Whiting believes that this announcement is another boost in providing the CIK Stars of Karting Series, and karting in general, a lift to be further recognised as a professional form of motorsport in Australia.

“When the CIK Stars of Karting Series was rejuvenated and rebranded at the start of 2010, one of the main focuses was to provide karting with a promotable product and this telecast will be the next major step in achieving this goal,” said Whiting.

“The series is karting’s major promotional tool and has been designed so the classes can be easily understood by the general public along with the media across the country. With every round the momentum has continued to build with increased competitor and spectator numbers.

“We’ve always said that when anything is to be put in the public arena to represent the series, and karting as a whole, it needs to be done in the upmost professional manner. With this in mind the team at Castle Media have produced some fantastic telecasts in the past and everyone in the series is looking forward to working with them on this broadcast.

“As a series we are very fortunate to have the skills of our Communications Manager Lee Hanatschek who has helped secure this production, he will be working closely with the team at Castle Media to ensure that it will be produced in the most professional way.

“A huge thanks must go to Series Co-ordinator Peter Galvin for his dedication towards the series, along with the National Karting Council, the National Executive of the Australian Karting Association, our presenting partner Castrol EDGE, the International Karting Committee and the hard work of the series officials, for their continued support of the series which has made this broadcast possible.”

There are a number of limited sponsorship opportunities within the telecast available. For information on these opportunities please contact Lee Hanatschek on 0403 531 914 or lee@starsofkarting.com.au

Further announcements on the line-up of hosts and broadcast times will be announced as they are finalised.
