Dual glory for Klarich at Newcastle – Driver press release

Jake Klarich is now looking strong for the Pro Junior Title in this year’s CIK Stars of Karting Series following his second round win at the weekend, along with claiming the NSW State Championship for the category in a true come from behind victory.

In an unfortunate start to the weekend, a flat tyre in qualifying saw the 15 year old only claim 18th ahead of the Saturday heat races. Despite the lowly starting position, Klarich found some serious speed in the heat 1 that saw him blast through the junior field and find himself in the top 10 by the end.

Jake stated looking back on the weekend, “it wasn’t a good start to the weekend after i had to pull in during qualifying due to a flat tyre pushing me well down the field to 18th,” further adding, “I didn’t know how I would go throughout the heats as we didn’t get to see how fast we could go in qualifying so I wasn’t expecting much but i ended up finishing 6th in heat 1 and 5th in heat 2 and 3.”

With the ever important finals facing him, Jake knew he had kart speed and with a prime position with starting the opening final from 5th, the West Australian was keen for some success. The speed that was present throughout the heats for Klarich returned in the first final, as he sprung his Super Rooster sponsored Lenzo Kart up to 2nd by the end, setting himself for an exhilarating run to the end.

Starting from 2nd, the pressure was on the Perth teenager to continue to press on and seek the best possible finish. Leaving the chaotic conditions behind him, Klarich soared away from the field and sealed the round win as his Lenzo Kart was unstoppable right to the chequered flag.

“This is definitely the best win of my career so far because it was like one big rollercoaster ride. a big thank you to the team, Lenzo Kart Australia, super rooster Toowoomba, Condo Cartage, MI Construct, Bowra signs and A and R Klarich transport and earthmoving,” added Klarich.

Now being just 1 point off second, and 28 off first in the Pro Junior KF3 Championship, Jake is feeling confident heading into the final round of yet another strong result and is looking to reign in the lead of Pierce Lehane and Joseph Mawson and claim the title.
